WELCOME TO

The Herbarium

The Herbarium is a space within Jill Margo Studio for my place-based creative practice with pressed flowers—through prints inspired by plant encounters near home.

The outside comes in

For flower lovers, gardeners, naturalists, romantics, and other kindred spirits,
The Herbarium offers a way to bring a little of the outside in and stay a while.

A herbarium is traditionally a collection of preserved plant specimens

THE HEART OF IT

Emily Dickinson kept a herbarium. So did Thoreau.

Like traditional herbaria (and like the poets), my work grows from place and attention. But where a herbarium preserves specimens, I'm interested in preserving moments of beauty.

Beauty is a harvest of attention.

It helps us pause. Notice the incredible world around us (the one that's not breaking us out in stress hives).

And by paying closer attention to beauty, we get to experience more of it.
