Need a fresh perspective?
THE HEART OF ITLet’s think through things together
You want reflection, perspective, practical support, or simply another attentive human to help you think through what's happening in your creative life.
But that kind of support can be surprisingly hard to find. And hard to ask for.
Especially in a culture that overvalues independence and quietly reinforces the idea that we should already know how to handle all of this ourselves.
So when we feel overwhelmed, stuck, uncertain,
disconnected from our work, or unable to see clearly, it can start to feel like a personal failing instead of a normal part of having a creative practice (and being human).
Shine Sessions offer a place to bring the things that are harder to sort through alone—creative tangles, difficult decisions, stalled projects, competing ideas, or the strange friction that can develop between you and your work.
A conversation in service of your creative life—where ideas are explored, questions are welcomed, and clarity has room to emerge.
One-hour individual creative advising sessions designed to help you untangle something, reconnect with your work, find greater clarity around what's next, or to have a thoughtful conversation about your creative life
WHAT THIS ISPeople book Shine Sessions for all kinds of reasons: to talk through perfectionism or burnout, explore a creative pivot, get perspective on a project, discuss questions around sharing or sustaining their work, brainstorm practical next steps, or simply think out loud with someone who understands the complexity of creative life.
HOW THIS UNFOLDSCurious what a Shine Session is like?
Here's how our time together will unfold.
-
You’ll fill out a short intake form sharing a little about what you want to explore together and what you’re hoping to leave the session with.
Your answers don’t need to be perfectly clear or organized. The form simply helps me understand where you are so we can use our time well.
-
We’ll meet on Zoom for a one-hour conversation.
At the beginning of the session, we’ll briefly revisit your reason for the session and what you’re hoping for. From there, we’ll explore together.
Depending on the session, that might include reflection, brainstorming, perspective, practical guidance, resource-sharing, or help identifying more workable next steps.
Some sessions are more practical. Others are more reflective. Most are a little of both. -
I’ll be listening for where things have become tangled, pressured, overcomplicated, or disconnected from what actually matters to you.
Often, that means helping you sort through competing expectations, perfectionism, self-criticism, outside pressure, or the gap between what you think you should be doing and what’s actually workable within your circumstances.
I’ll also be paying attention to the broader conditions shaping your creative practice—because so many of us have absorbed ideas about productivity, success, visibility, or legitimacy that were never neutral to begin with.
Sometimes what’s needed is perspective.
Sometimes it’s practical problem-solving.
Sometimes it’s simply having another thoughtful person help you see what’s already there.I’m not interested in helping you extract more from yourself. I’m interested in helping you shape a creative practice that can actually meet your life.
-
After the session, I’ll send along any resources, links, or references that came up during our conversation.
WHAT SHIFTSMany people leave a Shine Session with:
greater clarity around a project, question, or creative tension
relief from expectations that no longer fit their life or capacity
a sense of feeling less alone inside the complexity of creative life
a project, decision, or next step feeling more approachable again
practical next steps, resources, or thoughtful feedback
a softer, more compassionate relationship with themselves and their work
And often, that's enough to change what happens next. A project begins to move again.
A decision becomes clearer. Creative practice feels a little more inhabitable.
WHO THIS IS FORThis will be an especially good fit if:
you’re feeling tangled, overwhelmed, or unsure how to move forward
you want perspective on a project, idea, decision, or creative tension
you’re navigating perfectionism, burnout, creative self-doubt, or competing expectations
you want thoughtful support that includes both reflection and practical insight
you’re trying to reconnect with your work or regain momentum
you want help finding approaches that better fit your real life and capacity
you’ve taken The Tending Sessions before or have done a Seasonal Reset with me and want a form of ongoing support
we haven’t worked together before, but you’d like a lower-commitment way to experience my approach
This is not a fit if:
you’re looking for therapy or mental health treatment
you want strict accountability, output-driven systems, or optimization strategies
you’re primarily seeking business coaching or craft critique
An investment in gaining clarity, perspective, and support around whatever feels tangled, pressing, or in need of illumination within your creative practice.

I understand that life—and energy—can be unpredictable, and that chronic illness, disability, and other unexpected circumstances don’t always give us that much warning. If something unexpected happens, please reach out as soon as you’re able. I’ll do my best to meet you with care and flexibility on a case-by-case basis.
I ask that this flexibility be used in good faith.
INTAKEIf you’re looking for a little more clarity, perspective, or support around your creative practice, this is the next step
You’ll start by filling out a short intake form and suggesting a few possible dates and times that work for you. From there, I’ll confirm a session time (or suggest alternatives if needed).
Shine Sessions are typically scheduled within 1–2 weeks and are usually held weekday afternoons, with some flexibility.
