THE HEART OF ITA creative practice you can stay in
You want a steady creative practice—but can’t seem to sustain one, aren’t sure what that looks like, or feel like what you’ve been doing isn’t quite working.
Not because you’re not serious.
Not because you lack devotion.
But because you haven’t been shown a way that actually works with your life.
Most approaches to creative practice are shaped by productivity culture—they assume stable energy, predictable time, and more capacity than most of us have.
So what happens?
You make a plan → it works for a while → life changes → you fall off → and getting back feels heavier than it should.
Or: You push to stay consistent → override your limits → and eventually burn out or stop entirely.
It becomes harder to trust your own rhythm—and harder to trust yourself.
So you end up spending more time feeling bad about not being in your practice than actually being in it—avoiding your practice while also longing for it.
That’s a hard cycle to stay stuck in.
This isn’t more of that.
It’s a structured but flexible way of staying close to your creative practice—even when life is life-ing.
Here, we don’t focus on consistency; we focus on return.
Instead of trying to eliminate disruption, you learn to find your way back.
A small group of up to eight people that meets on Zoom every other week across the season
WHAT THIS ISMost sessions follow a simple rhythm centred around three things:
what you’ve been tending
what you’d like to offer to the group
what you’d like to explore with the group
For the first two, the group listens. For the third, you'll receive reflection, perspective, and practical support from the group and from me.
There are also two sessions that take a slightly different shape—our first Orientation + Seasonal Reset session and a sharing session.
Because the same group stays together across the season, you're not starting from scratch every time.
People get to know your work, your patterns, and the realities you're navigating. Over time, that continuity makes it easier to notice what's actually helping, what's getting in the way, and where you're being harder on yourself than you need to be.
Choosing between the group and one-to-one Tending Sessions?
Both versions follow the same seasonal structure and use the same core practices.
The group version offers a shared rhythm, witnessing and being witnessed, and input from multiple perspectives.
The one-to-one version offers pacing shaped entirely around your life, more focused, in-depth conversation, and a quieter, private container.
If you’re wanting a shared space and collective energy, the group may be a better fit.
If you’re wanting something more tailored, spacious, or responsive, the one-to-one version may suit you more.
Curious what participation actually looks like?
HOW THIS UNFOLDSHere's what we'll be doing together. Required reading for those who like to know what they're getting into.
-
You’ll fill out a short intake form so I can get to know a little about you and your creative practice before we begin. Once I receive your payment, your spot will be confirmed.
You’ll then receive The Seasonal Creator Workbook & Planner in the mail.
Before our first session, you’ll complete the workbook portion—ten not-too-scary exercises that help you put the last season to bed and prepare the ground for what’s next.
Then we’ll gather on Zoom for Orientation & Part One of the Seasonal Reset, where you’ll share from the workbook and start to get to know the group.
You’ll also have Part Two of the Seasonal Reset as a one-to-one session, where we’ll talk more directly about your projects and intentions and shape your cultivations— a more humane alternative to goals that aren’t output-driven and won’t overextend you.
-
You’ll be working with The Three Core Practices throughout the season:
Connect with your creative self for at least 15 minutes most days—according to your capacity.
Choose three intentional, right-sized small steps or activities to focus on each week (your triorities).
Reset seasonally. Reflect, realign, and plan regularly.
In practice, that could look something like this:
The 15s
You might read, tidy your studio, make a quick sketch, write a couple of paragraphs, or put up a post. Some days the 15s act as a warm-up. Some days they’re the whole practice. Either way, you stay in contact—no unbroken streaks required.
Your Triorities
Say your cultivation is something like:
Stay in close, attentive contact with the natural world—so my visual work and writing remain rooted in place.
Then your triorities might be:take a field walk and notice what draws attention
process or sort what’s been gathered
spend some time responding through writing
What matters most is what you focus on.
Reflection
At the end of the week, you’ll reflect in your planner, then check in with the group in a private online space (currently a Facebook group—accessible and free, if not ideal).
The check-in is rooted in noticing, not pressure or performance. -
One thing I've noticed over the years is that folks rarely struggle because they don't care enough about their work.
More often, they're trying to maintain a practice built for a life they aren't actually living.
As we work together across the season, I'll be paying attention to the places where your expectations and your actual circumstances aren't lining up—and to the stories you're telling yourself about what that means.
Often, that means naming things that aren’t neutral—where productivity culture, internalized expectations, or external pressures are influencing your interpretations.
I'll also be tracking patterns—what keeps showing up, what helps, what gets in the way, and where your practice is asking for something different.
When I respond, I won't be pushing for output or quick fixes. I'll be helping you see what's happening more clearly, so your practice can actually meet your life.
Here, we right-size your practice so it can hold. The rigour is there—it just doesn't rely on pressure or force.

WHAT CHANGESOver each season, many participants begin to notice:
they become less adversarial toward themselves and their creative practice
they spend less time worrying about their practice—and more time being in it
they become better observers of their own patterns, rhythms, and capacity
they experience fewer all-or-nothing swings between pushing and disappearing
they return sooner after interruptions, illness, dips, and other setbacks
they develop a wider, more flexible understanding of what counts as creative practice
they stop treating creativity as something they have to earn
their practice becomes more right-sized for their actual life
their relationship with their work becomes steadier, more resilient, and easier to trust
And then the work begins to move. Ideas take shape. Some things get finished.
Other things keep ripening. And work finds its way into the world.
WHO THIS IS FORThis will be an especially good fit if:
You care deeply about your creative practice, but staying connected to it feels harder than you'd like.
You often feel like you're falling behind—even when you're actively engaged with your work.
You're tired of cycling between pushing hard and disappearing for stretches of time.
Life keeps changing, and you're looking for a way of practicing that can change with it.
You want support, companionship, and structure—but not pressure.
This is not a fit if:
You're primarily looking for craft instruction or critique.
You want strict accountability, optimization strategies, or output-driven systems.
You're looking for someone to tell you exactly what to do.
INVESTMENTYou're not just investing in the sessions
You’re investing in the chance to spend an entire season developing a creative practice that can survive real life. For many creators, this replaces the cycle of starting over and offers a reliable way back to the work.

INTAKEIf this feels like the kind of support you're looking for, this is the next step
Each season is limited to eight participants.
Returning participants are offered spots first, followed by folks on the waitlist. Any remaining spots are then opened publicly and registration stays open until the group is full.
This is a small, carefully held space. For many participants, it becomes something they return to season after season because of how it changes the way they approach their work, the rhythms they build around it, and their relationship with the folks alongside them.
